Due to an equipment malfunction, the re-opening of the Tennant Creek Swimming Pool will be delayed
by up to two weeks.
While a new pump for the pool was successfully installed by local contractors, it was found the variable speed
drive (VSD) to the pump had suffered electrical damage and was inoperable, and the drive for the second pump
was incompatible with the new model.
Contractors are now working on installing a new VSD, as well as looking to see if the second pump can be started
to begin the process of treating the water.
Mayor Jeffrey McLaughlin acknowledged the importance of community pools in bringing people together in a fun
environment.
“Barkly Regional Council staff are working together with local contractors to ensure the pool will reopen as soon
as possible, with recruitment for a Lifeguard also now underway,” he said.
