Laramba Young Roos Are Champions

Wow! What a fantastic day of sport we had in Yuendumu on Saturday! Around 200 people came together to cheer on their teams. It was a perfect day for footy and softball. The Laramba Young Roos were the big winners, taking home the top prize in both AFL and softball! It was a very close finish for both games. The AFL match was decided by only 9 points, with Laramba winning 38 to Yuendumu’s 29. The softball game was even closer! Laramba won by just 2 runs, scoring 12 to Yuendumu’s 10. Lajamanu Holy Ground Gets Toilet Upgrade

Central Desert Regional Council (CDRC) is excited to announce the completion of the ablution block upgrade at the Lajamanu Holy Ground! The upgrade includes replacement of all included amenities, electrical and plumbing fixes, painting, and importantly entry ramps for both male and female toilets, making the facility more accessible for individuals with disabilities. The existing roof was replaced with insulated panels 110mm thick to keep it cooler in summer. Thanks to the Lajamanu Local Authority for making this possible!

Money Information Shared with Aged Care

Recently Central Desert Regional Council (CDRC) Aged Care organised information sessions with Money Mob at seven Aged Care centres for staff, clients and carers. The sessions were held in Atitjere, Ti Tree, Wilora, Willowra, Laramba, Yuelamu and Lajamanu, and provided valuable knowledge on various financial topics such as banking, financial advice and setting financial goals. Central Desert Youth Sports League Grand Final

This weekend Yuendumu will be abuzz with excitement with the Central Desert Youth Sports League grand finals tomorrow! Central Desert Regional Council (CDRC) Youth and Communities are pleased to announce that the grand finals (softball and AFL) will be played tomorrow at Yuendumu oval. To get there, Laramba won both the softball and AFL in the East Competition, defeating Ti Tree, Atitjere and Engawala. Yuendumu also won both the softball and AFL in the West Competition, defeating Nyirripi, Yuelamu and Willowra. Recycling a Breeze in Engawala and Lajamanu

Engawala and Lajamanu now have dedicated recycling sheds, with bays for different recycling categories making it easy to drop off recycling material at the landfills. The project was funded by the NT Recycling Modernisation Fund and helps support the Central Desert Regional Council (CDRC) Waste Management Strategy 2023-2027. Each of the seven bays is dedicated to a separate recycling stream. These include tyres, bottles and cans, white goods, gas bottles and fire extinguishers, and batteries. CDRC Supports Under 18s Footy Competition

Central Desert Regional Council (CDRC) was proud to support this year’s Under 18s AFL competition at Traeger Park, 4 and 5 July. This year was the first that CDRC had a male team and a female team made up of Yuelamu and Yuendumu participants to create a ‘CDRC All Stars’ team. Males from Yuelamu, Laramba and Yuendumu joined with other communities from Central Australia to form mixed teams. A big congratulations to the Harts Range female team for winning the competition! We’re excited to announce the completion of playground upgrades in Pmara Jutunta, Nturiya, and Wilora! These new play spaces are packed with fun and safe equipment for kids of all ages. We've also added pathways suitable for seniors/elders and children to enjoy. Huge thanks to the Anmatjere Local Authority and the Northern Territory Government for making this happen. Improved Roads for Central Desert Communities

We’re excited to share some great news about improved roads in our region! Pulardi Road Gets a Boost Central Desert Regional Council (CDRC) is thrilled to announce the successful completion of the Pulardi Road upgrade. Our talented Indigenous Roads Crew did a fantastic job rebuilding a 4-kilometre stretch of road using a special technique called sand clay lift formation.
